Engineering & Construction
In construction, ENKA’s engineering know-how is being employed today in an ever widening geography. The recently launched Rreshen-Kalimask Motorway in Albania, the Shakhtar Donetsk Stadium in Donetsk, Ukraine, the Toyota Car and Assembly Plant in St. Petersburg, Russia and the Blue City New Town Project in Oman, all attest to ENKA’s core competencies, which are also effectively demonstrated in other projects under progress, such as the Transylvanian Motorway Project in Romania, the Sakhalin II On-Shore Processing Facility in Russia, the Esentai Park in Almaty, Kazakhstan, the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dushanbe, Tajikistan and the Sheremetyevo International Airport Terminal 3 Project in Moscow, Russia.
Energy
ENKA's participation in energy projects dates back to the thermal power plants in Tunçbilek, Yatağan, Yeniköy and Kemerköy during the 1970s as Turkey decided to utilize the lignite coal reserves in the southwest of the country.
The experience and skills acquired through these projects enabled ENKA to extend the scope of its responsibility in subsequent turnkey power projects, either as a consortium member or a joint venture partner. As a result, ENKA participated in the building and commissioning of the 1,200 MW Hamitabat and the 1,400 MW Bursa natural gas fired combined cycle power plants.
In October 1997, for Turkey‘s most ambitious private investment energy program, ENKA partnered with InterGen USA, and following a competitive bid, the InterGen-ENKA partnership won the right to develop, build, own and operate three natural gas fired combined cycle power plants in Gebze, Adapazarı and İzmir.
Having acquired its partner Intergen's stake by December 2005, ENKA has become the sole owner of the Gebze, Adapazarı and İzmir Natural Gas Fired Combined Cycle Power Plants and the largest electricity producer of the private sector in Turkey, delivering approximately 30 billion kwh per annum.
