Power Plants
Following the decision of the Turkish government in the 1970s to utilize the lignite coal reserves in the southwest of Turkey, ENKA accomplished the civil works, and fabrication and erection of the steel structures of four thermal power plants with a total installed capacity of 1,830 MWe:

Tunçbilek (1x150 MWe), Yatağan (3x210 MWe), Yeniköy (2x210 MWe) and Kemerköy (3x210 MWe).

The experience and skills gained through these projects enabled ENKA to extend the scope of its responsibility in subsequent turn-key power projects, either as a consortium member or a joint venture partner.

As a result, ENKA participated in the building and commissioning of the 1,200 MWe Hamitabat and 1,400 MWe Bursa Natural Gas Fired Combined Cycle Power Plants in 1989 and 1999, respectively.

The InterGen-Enka partnership was awarded the right to build and operate the Gebze Power Plant with a nominal capacity of 1,554 MWe, the Adapazari Power Plant with a nominal capacity of 777 MWe and the İzmir Power Plant with a nominal capacity of 1,523 MWe, following a Build Own Operate (BOO) tender in 1997. The Bechtel-ENKA Joint Venture was the Turnkey EPC contractor for these three power plants. The  three natural gas fired combined cycle power plants in Gebze, Adapazari and Izmir, with a total installed capacity of 3,854 MWe, were completed in 2002 and 2003.

Following the successful completion of the BOO Power Plants projects in Turkey, Bechtel and ENKA Joint Venture completed the Rijnmond Energy Center Project in Rotterdam, The Netherlands in June 2004.

In the mean time, the 1,440 MWe Afşin Elbistan-B Thermal Power Plant, was completed in November 2006 with the commissioning of the fourth and final unit.

In July 2008, ENKA was awarded as main EPC Contractor to design, supply and construct the 411 MWe Single-Shaft Combined Cycle Power Plant in Yajva District, Perm Region – Russian Federation. Handing over for Commercial Operation was successfully achieved in August 2011 on original contract schedule.

Currently, Enka started two new power plant projects in Iraq: the Engineering, Procurement & Construction of 3x42 MW Simple Cycle Gas Turbine Power Plant, Gas Treatment and Power Distribution Systems Project at the West Qurna – 2 Field was awarded in December 2011 and Erbil Combined Cycle Power Project in April 2012.
